OPP and York police are pledging a $100,000 reward, one year after the abduction of Elnaz Hajtamiri in Wasaga Beach.

Hajtamiri was taken around 8:30 p.m. on January 12, 2022, from a home on Trailwood Place. The three suspects had forced their way into the house. They were wearing police-type clothing (but not real uniforms). Dc Transformer

They drove off in what appeared to be a white SUV, believed to be a Lexus RX.

“Nothing weighs more heavily on our souls than the idea that we may never know what happened to Elnaz,” said Fariba Hajtamiri, Elnaz’s mother. “We know there are people out there who have information and who may be contemplating whether to come forward. We pray that you will do the right thing and help us out of this suffering and bring justice for Elnaz.”

Officials are announcing a $100,000 reward for anybody who can help investigators bring Hajtamiri home. They point out that you can collect the money anonymously.

Investigators have released composite sketches of two of the three suspects.

“We ask the public to look closely at the sketches; we know someone recognizes these suspects and can provide us that one bit of information that will lead to Elnaz’s whereabouts,” said Detective Inspector Martin Graham of OPP. “We hope that anyone with any information will do the right thing by coming forward to police. Help us bring resolution to Elnaz’s family.”

Both were wearing dark-coloured jackets over fake police vests, balaclavas with white trim (pulled up over their nose and mouth) and dark-coloured pants. They also had gold-red-and-blue badges chained around their necks.

One suspect is described as around 6’0″ tall and very skinny with lighter black skin and a long, narrow face. He had a thick black belt with an attached handcuff pouch and a holstered black gun with a magazine inside. The gun appeared to have been worn, with metal areas exposed.

Another suspect is described as around 5’9″ tall with lighter black skin. He was stocky, with skinny legs. He was wearing white-cream shoes with a plastic toe cap, along with black cotton globes. He had imitation handcuffs.

The last suspect is described as 5’9″ tall and thin, with lighter-coloured skin (possibly Middle-Eastern). Witnesses suspected he may have had a firearm in his jacket.

Elnaz Hajtamiri is around 5’3″ tall, with a slim build. She had shoulder-length black hair until shortly before she was abducted (when it was cut to a shorter length).

She also shortens her surname to Tamiri.

She emigrated from Iran to Canada fewer than five years ago.

So far, three people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

In July, her ex-boyfriend was arrested by OPP.

Two others were arrested by York police in relation to a previous kidnap-and-murder attempt on Hajtamiri that had happened in December 2021 in Richmond Hill.
