A HOT food takeaway could be set up outside a Southampton church should plans be approved.

Mario Trisolino has submitted plans to Southampton City Council asking for permission to set up a hot food kiosk outside Millbrook Christian Centre.

The church has already given Mr Trisolino permission to use the grounds outside the centre and has said he can use the church's kitchen facilities.

Called Millbrook's Rotisserie, the takeaway will serve healthy meals to the community.

This will include a whole chicken, a side and fresh rolls.

The chicken will be cooked inside the kiosk in a rotisserie oven and the sides will be cooked inside the church.

The kiosk will be open from Tuesday to Saturday.

Mr Trisolino said in the planning documents: "We will be selling healthy meals to serve the Millbrook community which would include a whole chicken, a side such as rice, and fresh rolls.

"The cooking of the sides will be done inside the church's kitchen.

"The preparation and cooking of the chicken will be done inside the kiosk inside a chicken rotisserie oven.

"We have been told by environmental health that we do not need to have a flue extraction put in as we will only be operating the oven for a maximum of two hours a day from Tuesday to Saturday and we will not be serving any fried food at all so there will not be any foul odours.

"We will be closed on Sundays and Mondays."

The kiosk is a flat pack container but will need planning permission granted as it will be placed on the site permanently.

The kiosk is 2m wide by 4m long and stands at 2.2m high.

In a letter to the council, Faith Finch, a trustee of Millbrook Christian Church, said: "On behalf of Millbrook Christian Centre we hereby give consent to Mario Trisolino trading as Millbrook’s Rotisserie to use our refuse bins situate at 51/51a Wimpson Lane, Southampton on Tuesdays and Fridays each week, this being the collection day"

A decision is yet to be made on the plans.
